Jared Davis holds the position of Second and Eb Clarinet with the Richmond Symphony. Mr. Davis joined the orchestra in January 2004 after completing his M.M at Northwestern University. In addition, he also holds a B.M. from the University of Oklahoma. His principal teachers were Russell Dagon and David Etheridge with additional studies under Bil Jackson, Theodore Oien, and Steve Cohen. Mr. Davis has been a guest artist at the 2004 International Clarinet Association and has performed at the University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium. In 2000, he was a semi-finalist in the International Clarinet Association’s Solo Competition. He has been a judge for the Virginia Music Educator’s Association chamber music competition and coaches members of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra. Other musical ventures have taken him to England, Belgium, and France. Mr. Davis grew up in Oklahoma City where he started piano at age 6. He continued piano studies until the age of 16 when the clarinet became the primary focus. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, exercising, and traveling.
