Contrabassoonist with the Richmond Symphony orchestra since December of 2001, Matthew Harvell is also a regular substitute with the Virginia and National Symphony Orchestras on both bassoon and contrabassoon. An ardent disciple of Norman Herzberg, Mr. Harvell’s primary teachers have been David Sogg, Richard Beene, and John Wetherill with additional instruction by Judith LeClair, Arlen Fast, and other prominent bassoonists.
